Evaluation

Review of actions carried out in Saudia Arabia

Hcéres has taken on the mantle from AERES and is continuing to organise the evaluation of study programmes and, on an institutional level, evaluation and prospective activities for research and higher education in Saudi Arabia.

Since 2011, evaluations of study programmes at the request of  King Saud University (Riyadh), have included:

  • four programmes of the College of Languages and Translation,

  • five programmes of the College of Tourism and Antiquities,

  • two programmes of the College of Law and Political Science,

  • three programmes of the Arabic Linguistics Institute.

In 2015, Hcéres will evaluate a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree course in law at the  Dar Al Uloom Soll (Riyadh).

On an institutional level, in 2013, AERES won an international call for tenders issued by the  King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) for the evaluation of the first phase of the National Science, Technology and Innovation Plan (2007 to 2013). Under a second call for tenders, in November 2014 this evaluation was extended to include the drawing up of action plan recommendations for the second phase of the plan (2015-2020). This work was carried out by two groups of French and European experts, and was honoured by KACST as “extraordinary and distinctive work”.

Finally, Hcéres is also working on a third area in partnership with ARAMCO (Aramco Overseas Company) - a study on the state of post-secondary and vocational training in Saudi Arabia and long-term issues (towards 2040) for education policy, in the light of various development scenarios for the Saudi job market.

These actions are just some examples of Hcéres working internationally.
