Publication of the Hcéres 2018 Annual Report

This edition includes key figures relating to Hcéres’ activities, a review of the main events of 2018, an analysis of, and a description of the prospects for, the High Council’s missions – “Evaluating to inform” and “Observing to advise” – as well as information about organisational changes in the institution – “Organising to accompany”. 

In 2018, Hcéres concentrated on developing its strategic orientations, which have to be in phase with major developments in higher education and research. The High Council’s staff have been particularly active in enhancing the evaluation of study programmes in order to be able to provide an opinion on their accreditation, in revising the study programme evaluation standard within the framework of the new ruling on Bachelor’s Degrees, in developing systems for evaluating entities set up as part of the Investments for the Future (IRT) scheme, and in the continuous simplification of all the systems used.

2018 also saw Hcéres taking a greater role in the strategic thinking that is essential to the management of research in France with the publication of the OST report on France’s Scientific Position in the World (2000 - 2015), and with the roll-out of the first projects of the French Office for Research Integrity (OFIS), set up as a department of the High Council in 2017.
