Having applied as a PhD student to become a “student expert” for Hcéres, I have had the opportunity to take part in different panels of experts to evaluate study programmes in various institutions. I have learned a great deal from this experience in various ways. First, it gives a student the opportunity to see the world of research and teaching from a different point of view, that of evaluation. Next, it is very interesting to be able to understand how things work from the inside, but also the issues affecting institutions and study programmes delivered in the current environment. This experience also provides the opportunity to meet many people involved in higher education teaching in many fields. I really was considered as an expert in my own right during this exercise and I would be pleased to repeat the experience in the future.
