About us

The High Council for the Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (Hcéres) is the independent public authority responsible for evaluating higher education and research institutions, national research organizations, research units, and training programs. Active in France and internationally, it carries out methodical peer reviews, guaranteeing their relevance and integrity, in the interests of the academic community and society as a whole. Hcéres is organised into a general secretariat and eight departments: five departments responsible for evaluation in France, one department responsible for international evaluations, the Science and Technology Observatory, and the French Office of Scientific Integrity.
