The OST produces studies and analyses in response to calls for proposals or direct requests, covering a broad range of issues relating to the evaluation of research activities and dedicated public policy. These studies can combine different dimensions: positioning of research activity, scientific performance, responsible research activities, communities, and technological and societal impact.

Our approach

A wide range of methods, combined with detailed knowledge of data (scientific publications, patents, clinical trials), enables the OST to design studies tailored to your expertise needs and strategic challenges. Each service is carefully defined according to the partner's challenges and needs during discussion meetings.

The OST is able to offer tailored services, whether to characterise the scientific dynamics of a strategic topic, to measure and describe the scientific output of an entity (laboratory, institution, region, country, etc.), or to evaluate the impact of a research support programme.

The OST carries out these studies in close collaboration with its external partners, in a co-construction approach. These studies allow partners to benefit from the OST's expertise while fostering the exchange of knowledge and the renewal of approaches within the community.

A few projects

The OST's expertise enables it to produce three types of studies:

  •  Analysis of the strategic positioning of actors (country, region, institution, laboratory, team) from a scientific and technological standpoint within their environment;
  • Analysis of the scientific dynamics of research topics, which may correspond to a societal challenge, a scientific sovereignty issue, an emerging topic or a funded topic;
  •  Analysis of the impact of public research policy, which may involve funding schemes or organisational or institutional reforms.

Each of these studies may cover several issues: positioning and dynamics of research activities, scientific performance, technological and societal impact, community dynamics, responsible research…  Each study is defined in consultation with partners.
