Hcéres structures its integrated evaluation system and publishes new evaluation standards

Given the importance of groupings of institutions and their strategies, and their increasing independence and responsibilities, the French High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (Hcéres) has revised its methodology for the 2017-2018 evaluation campaign (Group D).  The goal is to conduct a concise and coherent evaluation of territorial coordinations and the entities involved in such initiatives.

G7 Research Group 2016: France at the forefront of research evaluation

25 participants representing Member States and the European Commission took part in discussions at the annual meeting of the G7 Research Group. The agenda focused on evaluating the impact of research, evaluating the site policies of institutions and scientific integrity. France was represented by Hcéres, the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), the French National Research Agency (ANR) and the General Inspectorate of the Administration of National Education and Research (IGAENR).

Nelly Dupin appointed Secretary-General of Hcéres

Nelly Dupin has been appointed Secretary-General of the French High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (Hcéres). She began her new role on 19 October 2016, taking over from Laurence Pinson, who was Secretary-General from 2012 to 2016.

Hcéres develops its international activities in Central America

After signing an agreement in May 2016 with the High Council of Central American Universities to develop institutional evaluation programmes, Hcéres participated in the France-Central America meeting of University Presidents and Rectors held in Costa Rica on 26 and 27 September 2016.

2016-2020 Strategic Plan

Michel Cosnard, President of Hcéres, hopes to “strengthen our country’s confidence in the evaluation of its higher education and research system” through the Strategic Plan 2016-2020, which reaffirms the principles of independence, transparency and impartiality that underpin ethical evaluation.

Three new Directors appointed to Hcéres

Michel Cosnard has appointed Frédérique Sachwald as Director of the Observatory of Science and Technologies (OST), following a proposal by the OST Scientific Steering Committee on Friday 3 June. On Monday 6 June, the Hcéres Board approved the proposal by Michel Cosnard to appoint Michel Robert to direct the Evaluation of Institutions Department and Annie Vinter to lead the new Evaluation of Territorial Coordinations Department.
