On Tuesday 1st February, Hcéres published its first integrated evaluation report on a cluster of higher education and research institutions, the HESAM Université COMUE (Community of Universities and Institutions). The integrated evaluation highlights the strengths and fragilities of a site and an assessment of its development challenges.

At a ceremony held on 22 January 2019, the CDEFI, the French Office for Research Integrity (OFIS), the French Advisory Board for Research Integrity (CoFIS), Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, the National School of Geographical Science in Marne-la-Vallée, ELISA Aerospace, EPF Ecole d’ingénieur·e·s, EPITA, the Centre Val de Loire National Institute for Applied Sciences, Troyes Technological University and Yncréa Hauts-de-France all signed up to the French Charter for Research Integrity.

France’s national network of research integrity officers (RESINT) is publishing its “Guide to Recording and Processing Reports relating to Research Integrity.” The primary purpose of the guide is to help all research integrity officers to put in place a procedure for responding to reports of violations of research integrity within their institutions and organisations, in keeping with the best practices which apply in this field.

The San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), published in 2012, and the Leiden Manifesto of 2015 both set out to improve existing research evaluation practices, particularly by drawing attention to the misuse of certain bibliometric indicators. In support of the recommendations made in these declarations, Hcéres has decided to issue a statement explaining how their principles are put into action in the context of our work to evaluate research institutions.
