By decree of the President of the Republic, dated 30 October 2020, Thierry Coulhon has been appointed President of the Board of the French High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (Hcéres). Chosen from the shortlist of qualified candidates, he will serve on the Board with 29 other members appointed on the same date.

In its study, “Mesurer le taux d’accès ouvert des publications scientifiques : le cas de la France” (Measuring the share of open access scientific publications: The case of France), published today, the Science and Technology Observatory (OST) proposes a normalised open-access indicator to take account of disciplinary biases and enable more reliable comparisons. This publication inaugurates the new Points OST (OST Reviews) collection launched by the Observatory.

Group B: Evaluation calendar rescheduled over 2 years

In the exceptional context of the current health crisis, Hcéres has decided, in liaison with the Ministry for Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI) and the Ministry for Culture and after consulting the research bodies and Conference of University Presidents (CPU), to reschedule the evaluation calendar for the 2020-2021 campaign (Group B) over a two-year period. The terms of this rescheduling will be defined in the very near future in consultation with the supervising ministries and bodies, as well as with the stakeholders in the evaluation process.

Disappearance of Prof. Michel Cormier

It is with the greatest emotion that we have learned of the death of Michel Cormier on Thursday 26 March 2020. He was formerly the Director of the Institution Evaluation Department of the Aeres (now Hcéres) from 2007 to 2011.

Cooperation agreement signed between Hcéres and ANVUR

Hcéres and the Agenzia nazionale di valutazione del sistem universitario e della ricerca (ANVUR) signed a cooperation agreement before the French and Italian Ministers for higher education and research at the summit between France and Italy on 24 February 2015 at the Elysée Palace in Paris. The goal is to establish a long-term partnership and contribute to improving higher education and research in France, Italy and the international community.

Hcéres has European recognition

The European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and the European Quality Assurance Register (EQAR) have just decided that the recognition of AERES, which was granted in 2011, has been transferred to the French High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (Hcéres) until its evaluation for the renewal of this recognition. This evaluation will take place in 2016.
